Will Hay, Principal, has 10 years of experience advising enterprise-grade payments and fintech companies. Having worked in London, San Francisco, and New York, Will specializes in real-time and alternative payments, including open banking and digital wallets. His experience working closely with large banks, major tech firms, and leading fintechs provides him with valuable insights into the payments industry, along with relationships with some of the most influential companies in the UK and US. Additionally, Will possesses a proven toolkit of problem-solving, analytical, and storytelling skills that support and influence enterprise stakeholders. His projects have encompassed top-down growth strategy, customer propositions, product design, pricing strategy, go-to-market strategy, market intelligence, and target operating model design. 
Areas of Expertise
Prior Experience 

Prior to joining Flagship and co-founding its London office, Will was a leader in Accenture’s US Payments Strategy team, and prior to that, part of Accenture’s UK Payments Strategy team.

With Accenture in London, Will worked with major banks, payments networks and government institutions on enterprise-level payments strategy projects, with a focus on account-to-account and international payments. His work included shaping major bank responses to PSD2 and ringfencing, renewed pricing strategy for a payments network and top-down payments strategy for two top-10 banks. In addition, Will participated on industry forums for Access To Cash reform and New Payments Architecture, while supporting the development of the largest application of Open Banking in the UK to-date. 

During his time in San Francisco, Will worked closely with major tech companies and US networks on market intelligence and product strategy projects, supporting the development of real-time payments use cases and innovations in the payouts space as it continues to be disrupted in the US. In addition, Will drove the modernization agenda for payments acceptance at major US retailers.

Lesser-Known Facts

Will has a side business as a photographer, when he has the time. He likes to shoot candid scenes in the cities he lives in, but will take his camera to document his long distance hikes in the mountains.
